This is a series of 10 razor cut horses with birds. Each painting is thoughtfully painted in reverse on the glass panes of old windows then cut apart with razor blades to achieve desired shapes reminiscent of paper cut outs. The process is continued in a constant dance of decollage and impressionism. I have always tried to achieve true spirit-like transparency in painting and have found glass is the only way to show light, not only on paint but through and behind it.

These paintings appear colorful and attractive at a distance, but up close you can see the many cuts and strokes and ghostly thin spots that light can pass through to illuminate each color within a crude wooden border that juxtapositions around the art.
